Sharing saved seeds with other gardeners and expanding the variety of fruits and vegetables in your garden is easier with these sites. Gardeners from all over the country can easily swap seeds in person or through the mail once they’ve found each other on the seed swapping sites.

  • Heirloom Seed Swap – The FREE Seed Swap Site For Seed Savers! Members can swap seeds, offer them for free, or offer them for sale. Can also swap gardening books, DVD’s and tools.
  • Swap My Seeds – Another free site that allows individuals or businesses to swap unused seeds or plants. Those with seeds can also sell them on the site.
  • National Gardening Association – A traditional swap site where gardeners can swap seeds or offer them for free. No buying, and only seeds are swapped.
  • Thrifty Fun – Members post what they have and list what they’d like to receive in exchange on this site. Some people offer their seeds without an exchange — they just want the recipient to pay postage.

You can also organize your own neighborhood seed swap. Mother Earth News has step-by-step instructions on putting together a swap for your local gardeners.
